Nick and I had a great Christmas. We are very grateful for the packages that were sent from family members. It made Christmas feel a little more like Christmas. It is hard being away from home for a big holiday. As much as we tried, Christmas just wasn't the same, but it was good because it was the start of our own little Christmas traditions.
These little decoration stickers helped! (Thanks to Mom Stevens)
This is Nick being silly. It is hard for him to get out of bed. This time I laughed at him and asked what he was doing. He said that he was finally warm.
The day after Christmas we decided to go explore our little town. We took the bus there and walked around. We walked into the bakery and Nick spotted some cream horns. I had to taste them to see if they were better than Peggy Ann Bakery back home in Huntsville. I would say it is a good tie on taste because the cream in these wasn't very sweet which I liked because I felt Peggy Ann Bakery's cream horns are too sweet.
This one was my favorite because of the crunchy chocolate on the outside!
After we finished our research on the cream horns we decided to look at cell phones. I promised Nick that if he did research on a phone that would work in the US he could get a phone plan here.
We walked into one store, but no one there spoke English so we moved on. We came across an Olleh (Hello spelled backwards) and walked in. Turned out that the president of the store did speak some English and helped us find the right plan for us. KJ is super cool!!
Here you go KJ, now you are internet famous!
Nick and his new phone.
As we were walking around we found this cool park for kids and adults. Nick decided to sit and meditate.
This is the Adult part of the park.... A work out station!!
Beautiful isn't it!
How cold it is here!!
We were getting tired so we decided to head back to our apartment. We haven't caught a bus back home before because we didn't know there route, but as we were walking around we found a few stops. As we were walking to one of the stops a bus flew by us. Nick yells at me, "RUN!!!!!" We took off running. Lucky the bus was stopped by a red light. We were able to catch up to it and jump on. The bus driver and the one passenger on it smiled and laughed at us because we were breathing so hard.
Friday we woke up to all this snow and to make it better it kept snowing till about 3 or 4 pm. We had just under a foot of snow. We were so excited because people kept saying that our little town doesn't get snow. Nick took this picture of me from the roof of our apartment building.
We built our first snowman.
This is a video of me making my snow angel.
This is Nick making his snow angel... Watch him cause he makes a cute halo at the end
This is were the rice fields usually are but they are completely covered with snow.
Our beautiful school and field covered in snow.
Although, at first, I wasn't going to make snow cream, I decided that I was going to try and it tasted the same as in the states. I was just worried with all the pollution here that it wouldn't be safe. Oh well, too late now, it was good. If I get sick I will let you know... and so will half the staff ;)
