Brevard

Last weekend Nick and I went on a ride to Brevard. The curvy road was a lot of fun, it was truly an adventure. about thirty minutes from the house is the pretty Glenville Lake that we will be swimming in next summer.
Me... in the passenger seat along for the ride!

 Nick Driving!

 It was a beautiful day!

Lake Glenville!

Yes this is a black bear!

I was super excited to see him, I made Nick turn around so I could get this picture. We sat and watched him until he finally decided to walk off.
The next cool place we stopped at was the Toxaway waterfall and a small shop.

When we got to Brevard we walked around for a while. We went into a way cool toy store and of course we had to get some cool things. I got marbles for my classroom, so we could marble paint, I also got a play-doh rolling pin on sale and a cute game to play at the dinner table. Nick had a hard time deciding what he wanted because there was a lot of things he liked. He ended up getting the game OTHELLO, his favorite board game, and it showed because he dominated me the next day. We got hungry so we stopped at this little place.
 Nick ordered a Coke float
I got a peanut butter and chocolate shake! YUM!!
Our waitress took this for us!
Yummy hot dogs and chips

After we left Brevard we went to Asheville and watched Captain America and then ate dinner at a fancy Italian restaurant.  We had a great Saturday!!! I love spending time with my best friend. We need to go exploring more often.

Today we went to the Mountain Heritage day on campus and we bought 2 quarts of honey. I have been waiting for this weekend for a while because I refused to buy store honey. Now we have Sourwood and wildflower honey and both of them taste so good. We also had fun walking around with Jennifer and Ben Cutler and their son Camdon. We walked around together and ate all the expensive fattie foods together too. Jennifer also introduced Nick and I to shape note singing. We went and listened to them for a while, Nick and I grabbed a book and started to sing too. It was a whole lot of fun!

Next week in the classroom I have my first observation from my principal.
Next weekend we are going camping with Brom, Sherry, Jacob, and Aaron.
September has been a great month and now that Fall is finally here it has gotten better. Fall is my favorite season followed by Spring.

We love you all and think about our friends and family often.

Love you bunches

Kindergarten Classroom

This week we built a cave over the classroom library and listening center. The kids had a fun time building it and helping me tape it together. They really feel like our classroom has become a forest. I wish I had more time to spend on Science. I feel that my day just goes by so fast. I never get to do what I want to do and that’s the FUN STUFF. I try hard to incorporate it in to everything we do though!
This week at school people have been seeing bears on the school campus so we have not been able to take the kids outside. The bears have been in Bryson City as well. There is talk that the reason is because we had so much rain this year that the berries didn’t grow high in the mountains so the bears are coming down to find food. This is the first year that bears have been on campus though and I think it is cool. I would love to see a bear at a distance.

This week I also got my word wall up, Thanks to parent volunteers. I rearranged my classroom a little bit to make room for my Science center.

We got the I Can Read board up and the children love it. I sent a letter home with my students telling their parents about environmental print and had them send in something their child was familiar with.

I also started a read around the room center this week. I glued some foam hands together on wooden dowels and then I glue a letter to each hand. The children walk around the room with their hands trying to find the letter they have. When they find it they have to write the word that they found their letter in.  The children are catching on very quickly and I love it.

Labor Day Weekend

It is only Saturday but the weekend has already been amazing! Lon (Nick's Dad) Came to my room on Friday and Surprised me after school. He got to play on my SMART board. He then went and picked Nick up from school. Today we went up the mountain to the Moss Knob shooting range. We bought 555 rounds and shot them all!
Our Drive was BEAUTIFUL!

The empty box, cheap and fun day

Ammo: $19.00
Travel: 7 miles
Cheap family time: Priceless

At one point we were the only people at the shooting range, so we set up our cans that we had collected at home. Between Nick and I, I shot most of them down. I thought he let me do it to be nice but he told me he didn't, so maybe I do have talent.

I got my little 22 when I was 12 years old because I wanted to hunt with my dad. I will never forget that Christmas. He took me outside and showed me how to use it. We then took it squirrel popping! Dad kept my gun in good condition for me and now she is finally with me here in Whee, NC.

Well we are about to go to dinner.
Love you all
