Christmas Begins

I know I have been blogging a lot but I can't help it. I have to document this awesome adventure!
This past week we have NOT been above feezing (SUPER COLD) We got a little snow but it didn't last too long. We had another great weekend. This time we went South to Changwon and Mason. We went shopping at a Home Plus (Like wal-mart) then we went to eat at KRAZE BURGER. Our friends Adam and Shae love this place and we discovered one close so, of course, we had to go.

On our way they had this road temporarily closed for some kind of Santa on bike parade. It was AWESOME!

We finally got close enough to park. On our walk to Kraze Burger we found these kids (unsupervised which is totally normal in Korea) throwing big chunks of slush into this pond.

Finally the KRAZE BURGER. If you read the post two entries ago you will remember that we thought there was a Kraze burger in Daegu but it ended up being a Who's Bob Club. So we have been waiting and drooling to eat there for a while. It is like a regular American Restaurant (I think there are some in America).

The K Onion burger!

Nick and his awesome plain double cheeseburger of awesomeness!
We had such a great time walking around town. We went into a LARGE store and at the very bottom of it they had a Krispy Kreme donut shop! We had to get one and yes they taste different but they still taste good. (And there is nothing better than a hot donut!)
Nick and I kept trying to decide whether we would get a Christmas tree or not, but when we saw this Lemon Cypress tree at Home Plus we had to get it. Piney came with the cute water bucket (below with yellow lid) she has a string that goes down into it and keeps her watered. We bought her because she smells so good! When we were walking around town we found a new store we had never been to. It looked very popular so we walked in. There we found the stockings and the glow in the dark letters for very cheap. It was basically a dollar store. We bought all the decorations for the tree there as well.

We don't have wrapping paper so we decided that we will have a box each and all the presents will go in there and we will tape it shut. We also decided that we are going to do stocking stuffers.. I'm so excited.

Friday I needed to do some laundry.. We haven't really talked about the washer/dryer we have but it is really just a washer. The dry cycle just shakes the cloths to get the water off, so this means we have to hang dry everything. Did I mention it is VERY cold out? Well our cloths didn't dry they froze! Among that load of cloths were Nick's long johns. We had to get up super early for church and Nick did not want to freeze so he put on my thick leggings. Pictured below

Nick in leggings HAHAHA

This is our last week teaching before our winter break (2 weeks) We are planning on staying with some friends(Heather, David and their 3 kids) on the military base, in Daegu, over the weekend. We have a church party Saturday night and Church Sunday. Monday we are going to an adventure park with the family we are staying with. Tuesday we are heading to the temple with another friend (Jennifer)of ours from church. The temple here will let you spend the night in some kind of dormitory for $10. They do this because so many people have to travel very far to the temple. After the temple we will stay in Seoul for a few days. Then we have some friends we met in AL (David, Gloria and their son Alan) about 4 or  5 years ago that live on a military base close to Seoul and we are going to visit them for a few days. I am super excited to finally venture out of our little corner and explore more of this beautiful country we are in.

  1. Lauren and Nick, I love reading your blog! I'm glad you are having so much fun there. It is really great to hear about your day to day life and see the pictures. So, thanks for taking the time to share all of this for those of us who probably will never make it to Korea! --Nancy Law
